Welcome to a New School Year!

It's good to be back! I'm excited about this group of students. I can tell this will be a memorable year for all of us.

*Brownie Points will be awarded each day when the entire class comes prepared with their math assignment. We're shooting for ten days in a row. When this happens, we will enjoy a pan of delicious brownies. If someone fails to come prepared, we have to start over counting. My intent is not to embarrass anyone, but to help every student be conscientious about staying on top of math. Since a new concept is taught every day, it's really easy to fall behind. Some of you volunteered to make brownies; thank you. We're looking forward to eating some in ten days.

I will contact you if you volunteered to help in our classroom. I know most of you would like to help, but your schedules won't permit it. I understand. What is more important is that you are emotionally involved in your child's education, and I know you are. I enjoyed meeting you at Back-to-School Night, and I look forward to getting to know you better.

I have assessed students in spelling and have placed them in groups according to their learning needs. As they master concepts, I will reorganize these groups to keep them on their appropriate level.
This week, all students have the same spelling list (following). Usually, a new list will come home each Monday, and a test will be given the following Monday.

*digit *equivalent *solve * word form *standard form
*expanded form *decimal *value *novel *reading
*social studies
*science *language *library *computer
